We will take a walk through the lookouts of Sierra de la Plata and Laja de la Zarga. The sandstone cliffs of the area offer a very good spot to watch birds adapted to rocky mountains. The main species is the Griffon Vulture and we will be able to observe one of the most important colonies of the area. We can find other birds adapted to this mountains like Blue Rock Thrush, Peregrine Falcon, Egyptian vulture, Eurasian kestrel, Bonelli’s Eagle, Short-toed Eagle, etc. It is also possible to find Little swift and White-rumped Swift.
During the walk you can enjoy the imressive views of the Strait of Gibraltar, Bolonia Dune, Cañuelo Beach, Sierra de la Plata and Morocco.
Some characteristic plants are possible to find in this mountains: Strawberry trees, Rockroses, Heathers, and the rare Drosophyllum lusitanica, a carnivore plant endemic from the western Mediterranean region and one of the few carnivorous plants to grow in dry soil.
